Now in it's 18th year, The Japanese Film Festival brings the best of the exotic, the exciting and the fantastical with its rich line-up of over 45 Japanese feature films – this year including the hotly anticipated Rurouni Kenshin trilogy, a live-action adapation of the popular manga series. With the first episode selling out in Sydney in 2012, the two-part sequel Kyoto Inferno, and The Legend Ends (soon to be released in Japan) will make its Australian premiere as part of the festival.

As well as the brand-new feature films, selected cities will also enjoy free screenings at various locations around town; some from the Japan Foundation's 35mm collection (JFF Classics), others are semi-recently released titles from past festival programs (JFF Mini).

The Japanese Film Festival runs nationally from October to December and for the first time, will include New Zealand too. Sydney screenings will be at Event Cinemas George St and Event Cinemas Parramatta.
