Violist Alexina Hawkins has gathered a gorgeous program exploring madrigals old and new adapted for the visceral colours of the string family and flute. Renaissance works by Carlo Gesualdo and Thomas Morley were originally written for vocal consorts and defined the genre, pushing the boundaries of harmony in the process. In our age, Paul Lansky and Imogen Heap used vocoders to create richly harmonic "modern madrigals". Alexina is joined by Elyane de Fontenay, Matt Laing, Jordonne Colley, Jon Heilbron and Lina Andonovska for this unique and eclectic performance.

Carlo Gesualdo arr. Heilbron: Ecco, morirò dunque & Moro lasso, al mio duolo
Heinrich Biber: Passacaglia
Thomas Morley: Selected madrigals
Paul Lansky arr. Hawkins: Her Song
Imogen Heap arr. Hawkins: Hide and Seek
Philippe Hersant: Pavane
Bohuslav Martinů: Madrigal
