Drawing on on teachings by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and work done by the US-based Tenzin Gyatso Institute; this workshop provides practical tools to develop discernment, broaden our perspective and cultivate a caring attitude toward ourselves and the others we meet in everyday life.

It explores secular ethics: a practical decision-making framework that incorporates the essential tools of awareness, mindfulness and compassion that people, from all walks of life, can apply in their daily and professional lives - especially relevant for those of us aspiring to be leaders and managers in the workplace.

This workshop is open to both people who are completely new to meditation and Rigpa, and established sangha members.

Making Decisions for a Better World will be presented by Chris McCarthy and Alexandra Yuille, two of Rigpa’s senior-most instructors.
Chris McCarthy has studied and practised meditation since training in India in 1973. He has spent many years in retreat including a three-year retreat in Lerab Ling, France. Chris has worked as a senior executive in government, director of a management consultancy and been a senior adviser in international aid.
After a successful career in business, Alexandra trained in Clinical Pastoral Care and has been active in the Rigpa Spiritual Care Program as a Spiritual Care Educator. Alexandra has been a student of Sogyal Rinpoche since 1994. Like Chris, she has completed a three-year retreat in Lerab Ling France.
