It was in late 2007 that ten enthusiastic local ladies decided to form a committee to stage a Craft Festival the following year to both celebrate Maryborough’s City Hall’s 150th Anniversary and to highlight the abundant artistic talent that prevailed in the local community.

Over fifty local artisans and crafters, individuals and groups, joined together for the inaugural CraftFest to showcase their talent, demonstrate their skills and offer for sale a wide variety of crafts. Many site holders chose to dress in period costume as befit our beautiful City Hall. From these small beginnings CraftFest was born.

CraftFest is now in its seventh year and has become one of The Fraser Coasts “must do” events. With the assistance of the Lioness Club of Maryborough and the generosity of local businesses, Maryborough Artisans Inc have raised much needed funds to assist individual charities within the local community.

Each year Maryborough Artisans choose deserving beneficiaries for funds raised from door takings. This year our beneficiaries are the Hydrotherapy Program, Maryborough Hospital and Riding for Disabled Association, Maryborough. When contacted with regards to a wish list, the Hydrotherapy program requested a Bariatric Water Wheelchair at the cost of $2,737. The acquisition of this equipment will allow for the inclusion of heavier patients up to 200kg . Their current equipment is only suitable for patients up to 100kgs and with the new Rehab unit at the Maryborough Hospital also referring patients to hydrotherapy, the wheelchair will be a welcome addition to their current equipment. Riding for Disabled Association will also have their request granted and will receive 20 Helmet Sun Shades and a number of Safety Helmets.

* Visitors to this year’s CraftFest will find many of their favourite
crafters from previous years, plus a number of new exhibitors.

* Each entry will receive a free lucky door ticket; lucky door ticket
draws will take place each afternoon at 3pm; thanks to the
generosity of local businesses who have donated gift vouchers,
each valued at $20 or more.

* During each day there will be “Lucky Shopper Spot Prizes” these gifts
have been donated by the site holders.

* Light refreshments are available each day from the Canteen
conducted by Maryborough Lioness Club.

* All Profit from the entry fee will be distributed to our beneficiaries.

Visitors to CraftFest will not only have an enjoyable day, they will also be assisting the worthwhile causes we are supporting. Be sure to make CraftFest a “Must Do” this year.
