Not finished yet! Elizabeth Barsham's review exhibition at Nolan Art Gallery extends for another week. You haven't missed it yet! And there are some terrific paintings still for sale, too.
Elizabeth Barsham is Tasmania's foremost Gothic painter and Mistress of the Strange.
Her latest exhibition of unique, amazing and frightening oil paintings opened at Nolan Art Gallery, opposite the Long Gallery at the Salamanca Arts Centre on Friday 13th June, an auspicious date for an artist with decidedly Gothic leanings.
Barsham works in a in a meticulous, illustrative style that makes her pictures immediately accessible. Her ability to produce a dramatic, disturbing image is matched by superb drawing and confident technique which never becomes slick or superficial. Precisely painted with sweeping lines in a powerful rhythm, her paintings combine solid design with an illusion of infinite depth, but remain hauntingly ambiguous.
Come and be enchanted and intrigued; exhibition is open during business hours daily and Saturday mornings until the end of July, 2014.
