Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) launches it’s very own film club: Point Of View with the first meet up on Wednesday June 18 from 6:30pm.
Titled Black face! Brown Face! Yellow Face! The event is an exploration of the eugenics of casting. Uninspired by Jonah, underwhelmed with all the (white) Gods of Egypt and generally let down by every bit of 'ethnic' caricature and cliché in screen, ICE asks it’s panel of screen industry professionals what their thoughts are on the ignorance of screen casting and performance in telling Australian stories.
Our facilitator Alissar Gazal will be throwing out questions such as, what right does an actor have to play someone not from their ethnicity? Do you stick to authenticity or do you hire the most talented? Can you exercise full creative freedom about someone else's culture?

Featuring speakers including George Basha (The Combination, Convict) and Nik Lathouris (Heartbreak High and Mad Max) we delve into the eugenics of casting.

Point of View is a film club, so ICE invites Western Sydney filmmakers throw in their point of view and participate in this contemporary and controversial topic.
