Even though Prokofiev was a pianist he was inspired by several great violinists to compose some of his most expressive music for the violin. Lecturers at Queensland Conservatorium, Graeme Jennings (violin) and Stephen Emmerson (piano), celebrate Prokofiev’s piano background and love of the violin in an evening performance of three of his well-known works. From the dark and brooding Sonata for violin and piano no.1 in F minor, Op.80, to the playful Sonata for violin and piano no.2 in D major, Op.94, to the five wordless songs Five Melodies.
