The Red Bull Music Academy welcomes a beat-making legend to Australia in March when the one-man production machine that is DJ Vadim headlines the latest instalment of its monthly Club Night series.
Nearly 20 years into his recording career, the cosmopolitan London-based producer is still a restless creative spirit. In 2014 alone he has three albums set to drop, beginning with a roots-reggae tribute in The Dub Catcher and its sequel (TheSoulCatcher) before an African-flavoured LP featuring vocalist Senna follows. Australian audiences will be among the first to get a preview of those drops, though there’s as much chance of hearing rockabilly or jazz alongside his favoured hip hop once Vadim has settled into the DJ booth.
DJ Vadim’s hit-and-run of Australia begins at Goodgod Small Club (Sydney) on Thursday 13 March before he steps up to the decks of Melbourne’s Boney, on Saturday 15 March.
