On the back of one new single, and one not so new, two of Sydney’s finest new talents SHE REX and LEPERS & CROOKS are combining forces this coming May to travel the East Coast for a joint venture tour. They’ll be supported by some very special guests to be announced soon.

Having already sharpened their musical teeth on a selection of Sydney stages, the all girl attack that is SHE REX have just released a new single & epic cinematic clip for the song ‘The Heist’. Not strangers to the scene, She Rex has been inciting hype with their previous singles and meteoric live show, crashing the stage with the likes of The Preatures, Stonefield, Children Collide, Regular John, Dune Rats, Sticky Fingers, British India, Wolfmother and NZ’s Die! Die! Die!.

After championing a series of much-lauded headlining show’s She Rex stepped up at the 11th Hour, presenting grit and P.O.W.E.R. via their self-titled acclaimed debut EP in late 2013. In addition to their revered powerhouse set at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND 2013 conference and rave reviews, SHE REX have recently landed in the 2014 “ones to watch” list of The Music, Tone Deaf and Rolling Stone. Although being the recipients of such attention, She Rex are firmly cemented to a bedrock of substance, intelligence & purpose. With influences as diverse as Blackroc, M.I.A and Queens Of The Stone Age, SHE REX are undoubtedly the Queen Regents of rage-on-fire.

On the flipside…slowly building a devout audience via a stack of live shows, comes the buzz of the young and talented LEPERS & CROOKS. This five-piece anthemic style rock outfit have been blurring the lines of genre in Sydney’s Indie music scene since March of 2012. They’re no strangers to loud-sound venues across the city where they left a lasting impression after a residency through February and March of last year. Following on from the release of an impressive debut single and video via the track ‘Her Kiss’ Lepers & Crooks have continued to win new fans where-ever they perform.

Their sound is an odd-on-paper but perfectly executed collaboration between cohesive vocal harmonies, contemporary metal riffs, funk rhythms and commanding rock drumming. Their dreamscape lyrics perfectly capture today’s youth culture and the young band explores it’s illicit trinity: the evolution of the old ethos of sex, drugs and rock & roll into loss, self-destruction and musical nostalgia. Describing themselves as ‘three long-haired lepers two short-haired crooks’ Lepers & Crooks are currently writing and recording their debut album although take time out to join forces with their pals She Rex for this must see tour de force.
