Street Requiem is a new choral work that aims to bring a sense of peace, remembrance and hope to many communities, struggling to come to terms with street violence and a loss of safety on our streets.

Conceived by the award-winning conductor and Founding Artistic Director of the School of Hard Knocks, Dr Jonathon Welch AM, Street Requiem is collaboratively written with Dr Kathleen McGuire, recently returned from the USA after creating the “Singers of the Street” in San Francisco, and Director of Curriculum for the School of Hard Knocks, Andy Payne.
Street Requiem is a contemporary setting of the traditional sung requiem with additional English, African and Persian lyrics and a modern setting of the Latin text.

At times deeply moving and reflective, Street Requiem is an essentially optimistic work that features music reflecting the multi-cultural and multi-faith traditions of multi-city living utilising gospel, celtic, romantic, indigenous and contemporary musical genres and instrumentation to spectacular effect.

Following its recent world premiere, the Street Requiem at the Glow Winter Arts Festival will feature internationally acclaimed soprano Rosamund Illing, and a massed choir including members from THECHO!R, along with local singers from the City of Stonnington including The Melbourne High School Choir.

Seating: General Admission. Please make sure you arrive a minimum of 15 minutes prior to the performance start time. If you require wheelchair access please call our Box Office on 8290 7000.
Tickets: $20 full, $15 concession (+ transaction fee)
