Energetic future-funk/disco/electro/rock band Super Massive will be whipping up a dance frenzy in Coogee on Friday 23 May, playing two huge live sets at Selina’s Nightclub, Coogee Bay Hotel.

Super Massive is the co-writing collaboration of ex-Machine Gun Fellatio drummer Glenn Abbott and singer Malina Hamilton-Smith.

Joined onstage by ultra-funky bass player Jed Wesley-Smith (King Clam, The Strange) and guitarist Louis Georg, Super Massive’s show is exhilarating, tight, groove-laden and full of catchy songs that will get your body moving.

The award-winning four-piece has been touring Australia and Asia for over five years, most recently playing a packed out Manning Bar for Raw Sydney and supporting 90s electro rock legends Def FX.

In support slot is White Knuckle Fever, the techno punk psychobilly blues duo of Abbott’s MGF bandmate Ross Johnston (aka 3K Short) and singer/actress Celia Curtis, of Circus Bizarre - A "high energy assault on decency & paint by numbers guide to devil worship”.

Guaranteed to be a fun night. Starts 9pm. Entry is free.

Not interested in following musical trends, Super Massive have been exploring the boundaries of electro, disco, funk and rock since way before Daft Punk invited Nile Rodgers to play on their record.

Seamlessly blending dramatic multi-layered synth-scapes, funky rhythms and full live rock instrumentation into a sound all their own, Super Massive’s musical influences encompass both the disco of Chic and Nile Rodgers and the modern electro/dance/pop sounds of Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx, but also add the stomp of The Brothers Johnson, the edginess of alternative bands like Depeche Mode and the raw rock energy of classic guitar bands like ACDC and Led Zeppelin.

Super Massive’s debut album is due for release this year.
