Australia's favourite festival band, THE CAT EMPIRE will be back to welcome in the Spring with a show that will blow you away – literally and figuratively. Airline baggage handlers around the country will likely quit as a troupe of trumpets, trombones, baritone horns, guitars, drums, percussion, and a man with an orchestra in his mouth prepare to circumnavigate the country to play shows in specially selected venues.
On the road with THE CAT EMPIRE is Madre Monte, featuring Hard hitting horns funkin’ up 50s style Cumbia, a tight rhythm section dissecting Afro-Colombian progressions, skankin’ guitars infusing reggae grooves, and a front man recreating the ancient mythological stories of Colombia, all intertwining to create a unique 9-piece Latin Reggae outfit.
Add to that mix, Sydney TED talk sensation Tom Thum, of whom The Guardian UK said "Tom Thum appears to have swallowed an entire orchestra and several backing singers". Armed with just a microphone, Thum pushes the limits of the human voice to create incredible soundtracks of impossible beats and phenomenal sounds.
Don't miss this show. Dancing shoes and a group of friends essential.
