The String Trio, Three Piece Suite, will perform in Moruya on 8 June with tenor, David Hamilton

Sunday 8 June sees the return of the string trio, ˜Three Piece Suite”. Performing once again at St. John’s Anglican Church, their 3pm concert has the title “Winter Serenade”. For this specially themed performance, the trio are excited to be joined by the talented tenor, David Hamilton. Fresh from his recent performances in Berlin and Poland, David will be singing a selection of songs which will delight both young and old.

David is no stranger to the south coast, a frequent visitor to the Eurobodalla he is an enthusiastic member of the Moruya Bowls’ Club and has also played in Bodalla and Tomakin. Although born in Scotland, David loves his cricket as much as he loves his bowls. But it is his other passion, singing great music, that locals can share with him and the trio on this upcoming long weekend.

The June concert promises to be even more diverse and breath-taking than their March performance which was a great hit with the audience.

"Winter Serenade" will feature, amongst other gems,
• a selection of Henry Purcell's intricately constructed and stimulating Fantasias,
• Dohnanyi's sunny and optimistic Serenade in C Major op 10 for string trio
• A selection of Schubert lieder, including two from his "Winter Journey" song cycle and the famous "Serenade".
• Peter Warlock's rollicking drinking song, “Captain Stratton's Fancy”
• The traditional Scottish love song, ‘Ae Fond Kiss', with lyrics by Robert Burns.

Winter Serenade is the group's first themed concert and David is its first guest performer.
Scottish born although resident in Sydney since 1979, he is a tenor with a distinguished career in the fields of opera, oratorio and concert repertoire. He has built a strong reputation and performed extensively to critical acclaim throughout Australia, New Zealand, Germany and the UK.

The trio's members, violinist Rachel Westwood, violist Valmai Coggins and ‘cellist Deborah Coogan have many years of performance experience in both orchestral and chamber settings. These include the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and numerous chamber groups such as Salut! Baroque, Crisantemi string quartet, Halcyon, and the Michelangeli Ensemble.

Patrons are once again invited to attend an afternoon tea, to be held immediately after the concert, where they will be able to chat with the musicians and enjoy tea and cakes.

Tickets are available at the door (cash only) or can be purchased prior to the day of the concert via the web site (using PayPal or credit card)
