Perth showcases illustrations from across the globe.

Brookfield Place Perth has opened its doors to showcase talented artists from across the world and is about to make fifty two more dreams come true with their ’52 Week Illustration Challenge’ exhibition in 2015.

The ‘52 Week Illustration Challenge’ has been created by Tania McCartney to challenge herself creatively and motivate her peers to do the same. There are fifty-two themes – one for each week of the year – where members submit art relating to the specified theme. Themes range from selfies to sandcastles and provide artists with a subject, whilst leaving the creative execution to them.

The Brookfield Place exhibition will feature one piece from each weekly theme as selected by McCartney.

McCartney, a children’s author with a picture book obsession, initially hoped to convince three friends to join the challenge. The Facebook group now contains close to 2,000 members from across the world as young as two years old!

The exhibition forms a part of Brookfield’s Arts Brookfield program. Arts Brookfield is a global initiative, which engages diverse communities by invigorating Brookfield’s public spaces through free world class cultural experiences. It is one of the world's largest exhibitors of art in public spaces, making Brookfield Place Perth, the perfect fit for the challenge.

‘The art world’s focus is so often on the established and the famous’ says McCartney who has been pleasantly surprised with the evolution of the challenge, ‘it’s so exciting for the public to be able to see art they wouldn’t usually witness. These pieces come straight from kitchen tables all over Australia and globally.’

Tania McCartney writes for adults and children. She has been shortlisted and awarded for published and unpublished works. An experienced magazine writer and editor, has been writing professionally for over 25 years. She is also the founder of both Kids’ Book Review (the number one children’s literature site on the web).
