A Different Way Home is a family drama that uniquely offers two sides to a story.
Act one sees the character Leslie tell us why there is very little love lost between he and his seemingly uncaring sister Maureen. In Act two Maureen gives us a glimpse into why she made the decision to break away from a family she found hard to be a part of. This play although poignant and touching, also gives us a great deal of laughter. It also asks, How do we cope with losing a loved one?
A comedy centred around a brother and sister who together convey the need for families to communicate. Through their dysfunctional relationship they teach us how love, laughter and loss are what bind us together as family.
The Australian premier of Jimmy Chinn’s play A Different Way Home explores prejudice and rivalry amongst siblings and within our communities.
