Activist Arts Festival 2015

Sat 24 Oct 2015, 11:00am–6:00pm

Where: Trades Hall, Corner of Lygon and Victoria Streets, Carlton, Victoria

Restrictions: All Ages

Listed by: lihuayap

The packed one day program includes panel discussions with speakers from a range of not for profit organisations, community organisations, activist groups, local musicians and songwriters, spoken word poets, workshops and films.

This year’s festival pays tribute to activists, past and present, whose dedicated efforts have helped shaped the society we live.

The aim of the festival is to bring together, in one space, interested community members, activists,
community groups and organisations from around Melbourne to share their work in the human rights,
animal rights, environmental and social justice fields. This is combined with artists who use art as their activism medium. This year’s festival includes local photographers, musicians, poets, visual and performance artists, plus there will be workshops and a mini film festival.

This event is proudly supported by the Sea Shepherd, Amnesty International, Friends of the Earth,
Refugee Action Collective, Melbourne Spoken Word, Equal Love, Indigenous Social Justice Association, Australian Conservation Foundation, Tamil Refugee Council, Great Forest National Park, Philippines, Australia Solidarity Association, Samoa Victim Support Group, Co health Arts Generator, International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (Australia) (ICAN), Road to Refuge, and the Bob Brown Foundation.
