Death of a Chook is a metaphor for the directors' personal life. Robert Gibson is the chook who not only moults dramatically but also ruffles the feathers of all those with whom he associates. Eventually he gets the chop but is still seen running around like a chook with its head cut off.

Gibson directed the award winning Video Fool for Love (1996) and Death of A Chook is the prequel to this highly personal film. A wry, funny, brutally honest self-evaluation from a bloke not too different from most of us.
