Heading to Australian shores, revered Californian band Allensworth have added three special nights in Far North Queensland into their rigurous touring schedule. Performing in Vertigo Cocktail Bar & Lounge in The Reef Hotel Casino at the start of December, their return down under marks their fourth East Coast tour.

There is little that Allensworth haven’t done, so it isn’t surprising to find that they have been regularly taking home accolades such as Best Live Band, Best Soul & RnB Band, Best Acoustic Band and Best Jam Band (from the Orange Country Music Awards) to name a few. Allensworth are a difficult band to pigeonhole. A melting pot of rock and soul true life anthems have seen them deliver an authentic sound that aptly reflects their culture and surroundings.

The band earned a rapid reputation for their dynamic and unforgettable live shows, and their upcoming Australian dates promise to deliver much of the same. Their showmanship is considered infectious, with impressive rhytms, clever word play and soulful grooves. Since their inception a decade ago, they have shared the stage with funk and soul pioneers such as James Brown, Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters, Maceo Parker and George Clinton to name a few.

Allensworth have two impressive albums under their belt, the 2008 Broken Leaves and the acclaimed Against the Grain (2012). They are bringing a new EP with them to Australia, titled Slow Fade. The band’s Australian tour, and specifically their show at The Reef Hotel Casino, will see them joined by Guy Anderton (drums) and Tracy Stephens (bass), making the soulful band a five-piece.

Allensworth frontman and songwriter Jamie Allensworth and percussionist and vocalist Anthony ‘Tonymash’ Gonzales have a strong affinity with Australia, as their swag of tour dates will attest. The band kick off their tour in Byron Bay – an almost second home to the two since the band’s first tour to Australia in 2010 – traversing the coast from Sydney to Brisbane and wrapping up their tour at The Reef Hotel Casino.

Don’t miss this special opportunity to see international rock and soul at its best – Allensworth are performing for three nights only in Cairns in December. Allensworth perform at The Reef Hotel Casino on Thursday 3rd December – Saturday 5th December 2015 from 9pm nightly. Allensworth will be joined by special guest Adam Thompson on Saturday 5th December.

These are free shows in Vertigo.
