Artisans in the Gardens is an annual showcase of some of the best craft in the nation. Sculptors, ceramicists, jewellers and textile artists will be amongst the many makers on show. The pieces are thought provoking, awe inspiring, functional and bespoke pieces of art.

The exhibition will bring together, in one perfectly chosen location, some of the Australia’s most innovative, exciting and naturally talented artisans, many of whom will be appearing for the first time.
The Artisans in the Gardens curatorial panel of volunteers selected artists from across Australia to take part in this prestigious event. Among them are established names such as Jacek Wankowski and John Gardner were hand-picked to ensure a wonderfully diverse sculptural component, which will complement the grandest of gardens to the smallest of apartment patios.

The artistic inspiration for the works draws on the intrinsic beauty of nature as well as current environmental issues and sustainability.

Artisans in the Gardens is held in the Royal Botanic Garden’s historic Victorian sandstone building, Lion Gate Lodge and its surrounding landscaped cottage grounds.

The showcase event is the largest annual fundraiser for the Foundation and Friends of the Gardens, a not for profit membership based organisation that supports horticulture, conservation, scientific research and educations programs within the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney; the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah; and the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan. Proceeds from the sale of works will support the three Botanic Gardens and the local artists.
