Whether performing with his bands or by himself, Ash H King’s guitar-based blues and rock 'n roll is sure to have the joint pumpin’ and the cats jumpin’!

Born into a musical family, it was not long before a young Creedence Clearwater Revival fanatic took up the guitar. And it didn’t take long to get on stage either…at age 13, he cut his teeth singing in front of hundreds at the Elvis Presley Fan Club of Victoria rock 'n roll dances.

Ash's love of music came from sounds he heard growing up. Suffering maniacal Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino impersonations from his Old Man at the piano, a Skyhooks LP belonging to his mother, a Grunge compilation cassette (an eighth birthday present) from one brother, performing in a Blues Brothers tribute with the other, a Jimi Hendrix CD from his guitar teacher, all of this was to leave a deep impression. Guitar seemed the only place to sum up this love of classic rock, rockabilly, and heavy metal.

After honing his songwriting skill in rock band Phonik, who played sell-out gigs with Aussie rock icons the Angels, the Screaming Jets and Living End, Ash questioned what it meant to be guitarist. Where does it all lead back to? Where do all his influences point to? And then he found the answer.

The Blues.

At age 24, Ash has started not one, not two, but Three new musical projects.

*The first is The One Man Blues Show - just Ash and his guitar. At any given moment, you'll see him push acoustic blues to its limit, playing all guitar parts, conjuring the rhythms of a drum kit and rounding this unique sound out with a bass-baritone vocal.

*The second is The King Kats. In this blues, soul and rock n’ roll covers band Ash is joined by brother Ben on bass, his father Andrew on keys, and good mates Chris (sax) and Lee (drums).

*The final project is original; a heavy blues rock outfit titled THE WAVE. Featuring influences from Rage Against the Machine to Buddy Guy to Jeff Buckley, this is certainly one to watch.

Now what of the future for this lanky red-headed axe-slinger? In September 2012 Ash released his debut CD, a 7-track EP called Cadillac Ranch. At the same time it pays homage to his idols, this release will surely guarantee Ash a place on the hotly-contested Australian blues circuit.
