Featuring sets from a range of acclaimed Brisbane musicians and poets, Borrowed Verse presents an evening of song, poetry and spoken word. The show will premiere a number of collaborations that bring together the often isolated worlds of poetry and music.

Musical acts announced to date include Michael David Thomas (Breaking Hart Benton), Alex Bell, and the spellbinding Amela (in full band mode) to close out the night. The poetry and spoken word sets on the night will include award winning poet Ross Clark.

Borrowed Verse is a project that aims to bring together songwriters and poets to create original songs that extend the traditional boundaries of music and poetry.

A range of musicians and poets have expressed an interest in the project to date, including Glenn Richards (Augie March), Mzaza, and award winning poets Samuel Wagan Watson and MTC Cronin.
In late 2014, Borrowed Verse commissioned an exciting new work for TEDxBrisbane, a collaboration between musician Ben Salter and poet Herb Wharton. Their co-written song, ‘Tracks’, gave voice to a poem at the core of this Indigenous author’s droving past.
