The Brisbane Synthesizer Orchestra will bring together sound explorers and their experimental audio tools in an improvised performance of drones, tones, textures and sequences. More than a dozen local sound artists will perform live, using modular synthesizers, handmade audio boxes, circuit-bent toys, drone machines and more.
The orchestra will be 'conducted' by local audiovisual artist Andrew Gibbs and is presented in collaboration with the Centre for Audio Visual Experimentation (CAVE).
They will be joined by the *Electronic Music Eclective*, a motley crew of staff and students from the Music Technology Program at the Conservatorium.
Getting there: The Queensland Conservatorium is located in the heart of Southbank, at the end of Little Stanley Street. Parking can be challenging, but the South Brisbane train station and Cultural Centre bus station are a short walk away. The Basil Jones Orchestral Hall is located on the bottom floor. Enter the Conservatorium building via the main entrance (up the stairs leading off the Southbank Bouganvillea Arbour Walk) into the foyer on the second floor. Go down the stairs, and follow the signs through the labyrinth.
