Speak up for road safety during Queensland Road Safety Week

This year, the Queensland Government is launching a statewide road safety event – Queensland Road Safety Week – from August 17 – 21. This weeklong event is an opportunity for all Queenslanders to be directly involved in making our roads safer for everyone.

Hundreds of local events and activities being held across the State as part of Queensland Road Safety Week (17-21 August) – a joint initiative of the Department of Transport and Main Roads and the Queensland Police Service.

‘Speaking up for road safety’ is this year’s theme, and we’re encouraging the whole community to have their say on road safety. It’s about encouraging all Queenslanders to talk about important road safety issues with one another –with their kids, their families, their friends and colleagues.

To pledge your support online, or find an event near you, please visit 'jointhedrive.qld.gov.au/road-safety-week'.

You can also speak up for road safety on social media using #SpeakUpForRoadSafety
A key part of Road Safety week, the Cairns Road Safety Week Expo provides a fantastic opportunity for the community to get involved and pledge their support for road safety. Activities will include extraction demonstrations by Road Crash Rescue Teams at 10.30am and 12.30pm.
