Calypso Nights – an exploration of wonder.

Venezuelan Calypso DJ Juan Vesuvius (aka Barnie Duncan) uses two turntables and a microphone, vinyl records, plus maracas (and a beautiful handmade shirt) to tell the tale of musics. He makes amusing remarks and punchlines simultaneously. Covering the history of Calypso, Soca, Kim Jong Il, beauty pageants and cunnilingus.

Nominated for Best Newcomer, New Zealand Comedy Festival 2013, and winner of the Skinny Fringe Genius Award Edinburgh Fringe 2014. Funny clown education party dance.

“One of the most jaw-achingly good musical-comedy shows New Zealand has ever seen” - NZ Herald

“Bizarre, sexy, and very very funny.” - Broadway Baby

“A genre-defying riot that is so far removed from the usual festival fare, you won’t be able to contain the grinning.” - The Skinny

“... hilariously inventive: about as out-of-the-box as you can get.” - EdFringe Review
