Chenrezig Institute’s popular Dharma Club will continue to offer a monthly session throughout 2012 for children aged five and over.

The aim is to teach children the universal values of kindness, compassion, and how to be happy. Incorporating Buddhist principles, we hope to open children's minds to exploration of values such as humility, kindness, respect and responsibility.

We will continue the 16 Guidelines for a Happy Life program from the Essential Education for Children publication Ready Set Happy as the foundation for this year’s activities. Children, young people, and their families will be provided with materials on each guideline and have the opportunity to use the guidelines and activities at home to maintain interest, generate questions, and let ideas sink in.
The topics to be covered this year include responsibility, forgiveness, gratitude, principles, aspirations, service, and courage.

The focus of Dharma Club is on fun whilst learning about how to live a happy life. Activities include meditation, games, story-telling, discussions, sharing, and art & craft.

Please bring a water bottle, morning tea snack, hat, shoes, and towel for meditation/relaxation. Gold coin donation appreciated to help met the cost of materials.

Established in 1974, Chenrezig Institute is a centre for Buddhist study, meditation, retreat, and practice nestled in the foothills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Today, the Institute is home to a Tibetan Geshe (Lama), a large community of ordained Sangha (monks and nuns), students, residents, volunteers, retreatants, and guests.

Apart from the formal study programmes, Chenrezig Institute is a peaceful, calm and relaxing place to spend a few hours, days or weeks. Stroll along the bush paths, wander in the formal garden, sip espresso in the café, have a vegetarian meal, drop in for a meditation class or teaching, or just sit and listen to life.
