The multi-award winning show DIVA, Tiffany Barton’s shocker of a black comedy about sex, death, love and opera, arrives from sell-out shows in London and Melbourne to bring down the curtain on this year’s Fremantle Festival.

DIVA is a blackly funny, often poignant, one woman show written by and starring Tiffany Barton. Meet June, an eccentric, aging, agoraphobic, libidinous New York Opera singer, who swills vodka, pops pills, and waxes lyrical with her stuffed cat Eugene and her trusty vibrator Mr Buzzy about the two great loves in her life: men and opera.

Warning: Contains strong language, drug and sexual references.

David Zampatti, reviewing for the West Australian described DIVA as “Beautifully constructed with an absolute zinger of a climax… an affirmation of life, with all its heartbreak, darkness and obscenity, as powerful and beautiful as you’ll get anywhere. Barton is simply great as June. She nails her pungent Brooklyn accent, her fragile swagger and her tempestuousness perfectly. She has as impeccable collaborator in Helen Doig. Four and a half stars!”

Winner: The West Australian Arts Editor's Award 2014
