The Dunkeld Museum will hold their next Guest Speaker Meeting on Monday 5 October commencing at 8.00pm. Guest speaker will be freelance writer, Mrs Katrina Weatherly (nee Kelly) from Dunkeld.

Katrina grew up at “Mooramook”, Caramut. Her university education majoring in History and Literature was interrupted by marriage and children, before she graduated with four children in tow. For 35 years she and her husband Bill Weatherly and their family lived and farmed at Blythvale, Streatham.

For more than 20 years of that time Katrina researched and collected information and data relating to her family’s history in Ireland, Scotland and later in Australia. In 2002 she began a four year labour of love, using the collected material to weave together a 432 page story titled ‘The Daddie of the Field, the Kelly history from Ballinasloe to Barwidgee’.

There are many strands to the Kelly story, with much that will interest readers about the development of agriculture, mining, business, industry, and public leadership in Australia.

Entry is by gold coin donation. The meeting will be followed by a light supper and everyone is most welcome to attend.
