Proudly supported by DonateLife, Illumination Films’ Force of Destiny will hold a special event screening at Palace Electric Cinemas, with a Q&A featuring writer/director Paul Cox and hosted by Canberra Times Film Writer Cris Kennedy.

Force of Destiny is an extraordinary love story from veteran filmmaker Paul Cox, made poignant because of his own experiences of falling in love, living with cancer, and receiving a life-saving liver transplant. Paul Cox’s story is a radiant example of a successful transplant story that saved a life and inspired a film.

The film stars David Wenham and Shahana Goswami, joined by an international cast including Jacqueline McKenzie, Hannah Fredericksen, Seema Biswas, Mohan Agashe and Terry Norris. The film was produced by Mark Patterson, Maggie Miles and Baby Mathew Somatheeram.

In conjunction with the release of the film, distributor CinemaPlus has been rolling out an exquisite series of online clips that tell personal stories of people impacted by organ donation. These twelve Micro Stories – featuring Paul Cox, Paulie Stewart, Andrew Chapman, eight year old Annabelle and others – are moving reminders of the extraordinary generosity of donors, and the skill and care offered by medical support staff.

The development of the Micro Stories was supported by the Organ and Tissue Authority’s Community Grants Fund.
