The Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens welcome the return of the Gyuto Monks of Tibet to celebrate the 3rd birthday of the Kalachakra World Peace Stupa at the end of August. Four monks will be visiting, led by Gen Sonam Dorjee, who has been a Gyuto monk for the past 45 years and has completed seven years in solitary retreat - a rare feat even within the monastic community.

On Saturday 29th August, the third birthday of the Kalachakra World Peace Stupa will be celebrated with Free Entry to the Crystal Castle for everyone, all day with a special community event.

The Gyuto Monks will be conducting a Blessing Ceremony for the Crystal Castle’s new prayer wheels and performing the White Tara Long Life Empowerment, a guided visualization that everyone can benefit from. This may be taken as a general blessing on the day or as a culmination of the week’s daily series of meditations and talks. The intention is to encourage a positive approach within our everyday lives where kindness and compassion results in more joy and happiness for ourselves and others.

The effect of celebrating is regarded in Tibetan medicine, meditation and ritual as a factor in promoting good health and thus long life.

During the ceremony, the monks will chant for an hour followed by a guided visualization and initiation after which the monks will offer blessing cords / bracelets to everyone and people may make offerings to the monks. Personal Pujas may be arranged on request.

During their stay the Gyuto Monks will also make a home-size Prayer Wheel House and construct a special exquisite Tara Sand Mandala.

In addition to the free celebrations on Saturday, the Gyuto Monks will be at the Crystal Castle from Monday August 24th through Friday August 28th holding daily chanting sessions, meditations on the theme of The Big Picture, a series of public talks on Compassion Leadership plus the much loved Culture for Kids classes, providing something uplifting for everyone. Normal entry fees apply from Monday - Friday (please see for details).
