Victorian Talent Revealed! Hidden Faces is an exhibition of portraits by Victorian artists, originally submitted for a number of national portrait prizes, including the Doug Moran, Portia Geach, Archibald & Black Swan, and not hung in the 'official' exhibitions. On show is a diverse array of exciting, diverse, witty & experimental artworks by Victorian artists whose talent deserves to be seen & appreciated.

Now well established in Melbourne's arts calendar, Hidden Faces unveils a broad spectrum of entertaining, challenging & insightful paintings of such well-known subjects as Sports Icons: Merv Hughes, Raelene Boyle & Robbie McEwan; Performers: Johnny Young, Emma Ayres, Brian Canham, Emma Matthews & Russell Morris; Artists: Leonard Long, Anne Marie Graham, Gary Miles, Dr. Tony Hanning: Writers: Elliot Pearlman, Deborah Forester, Blanche D'Alpuget, Scott Podmore & Honey Brown; Politician, Barry Jones; Professors: David Karoly, Damien Kingsbury & Sharon Lewin.

The exhibit includes outstanding works by Jacqui Grantford, Raelene Sharp, Phillip Barnes, Jacquie Blight, Jim van Geet, Ursula Theinert, Polly Ifould, Geoff La Gerche, Aime Sacrez, Annie On Lee and Richard Knafelc to name a few. The Salon reveals Victoria’s amazing portraiture talent.

Hidden Faces follows in the long tradition of the French impressionists of the 1860s who held a breakaway exhibition from the French Academy. The inaugural Salon des Refuses, held in 1863 by command of Napoleon III, included works by acclaimed artists Edmund Manet, Camille Pissarro and Paul Cezanne.

Our Victorian artists are certainly in good company!

The popular People's Choice Award will also take place. You are invited to vote for your favourite portrait. Both the winning artists and the winning entrant (drawn at random from all winning entries) will receive an accommodation package sponsored by the Hilton Melbourne South Wharf.

The event is Free of Charge and The Venue Is Open All Day Every Day!
Don't Miss It!
