This winter has been one to remember, for all the wrong reasons. So with spring officially declared and sunshine on its way, its time to celebrate with a trip to the Maribyrnong Makers Market. This celebration of the artisanal talent from all around Melbourne will feature a sprinkling of everything, from hand made jewellery to herbal tea – there’s no chance you’ll be going home empty handed.

Amanda Ashton from WRAP (Wrapping, Ribbons & Paper), a boutique stationery business, will provide pointers and products sure to turn any present into a precious gift. Daniella Lo Presti from For Me by Dee will show off her beautiful prints of original animal paintings.

If jewellery is your thing you’ll be amazed by the quality of the stalls at the September market. Stop by Bloomfield by Di-Zyn if you’re looking for some glass, home-blown jewellery. If aluminum pieces are your favourite, then make a beeline for Bold and Striking, and for all the Japanophiles out there, Lauren Williams will be displaying her Japanese paper resin jewellery. Mel Macklin and Hannah Mancini’s unique pendant jewellery with hand-drawn art designs will also be on display.

Don’t worry about eating before you come along. The Rotary Club will be running a sausage sizzle and there’ll be plenty of gourmet fare from Helen and Simon Gibbs. The market has the tea fanatics covered with Organics for Lilly’s incredible range of organic, herbal teas. Susan from Saucy 7 will be able to add a bit of flare to your next meal with her huge selection of home made sauces.

Make sure you bring the kids along, with over 10 stalls devoted entirely to keeping your little ones entertained and snappily dressed, including brands Baby Scent, Greediebird and Mr Moo Designs. If your home needs a bit of decorating, we’ve also got everything you need. Spare Home Designs, Mim Pickle and Shoko Mafune will be able to deck your home out in artisanal homewares and ceramics. Soap Cuisine and Torch Soy Candles will make your home an ambient and beautifully scented retreat.

Established in 2008, the Maribyrnong Makers Market is a not-for-profit, community based arts and craft market run by a local volunteer group. The enthusiastic group provides a much-needed forum for artists and crafts people to promote and sell their handmade wares, welcoming visitors from across Melbourne to discover one of the hidden jewels of the west.

The Maribyrnong Makers Market is on Saturday 12 September, from 9.30pm to 3.30pm at the Seddon Uniting Church in Gamon Street, Seddon. Entry is free. For more information, visit: 'www.maribyrnongmakersmarket.com.au'.
