The Seymour Centre is pleased to present the uplifting and inspiring cabaret show, Matthew Mitcham’s Twists and Turns, during the 2015 Sydney Mardi Gras program from 26th - 28th February.

Matthew Mitcham OAM is the 2008 Olympic diving champion in the 10m platform, receiving the highest single-dive score in Olympic history and becoming the first Australian male to win an Olympic gold medal in diving since 1924.

Away from the pool, Matthew Mitcham is also a talented singer and musician. Matthew Mitcham’s Twists and Turns is based on Mitcham’s courageous and revealing autobiography and details his highs and lows through a unique mix of theatre and song.

Matthew Mitcham’s Twists and Turns features a eclectic line-up of music from artists including Alanis Morissette, New Order, Rufus Wainwright, Who Da Funk and The Spice Girls carefully woven into an articulate, funny and at times poignant story. Also featuring trampolining, ukulele-playing, drag performances and much more, Matthew Mitcham’s Twists and Turns promises plenty of surprises.

Commissioned and produced by the Melbourne Cabaret Festival and directed by the contemporary hot-property young director Nigel Turner-Carroll, this extraordinary production has been scripted by multi-award winning UK cabaret performer ‘Spanky’ under the musical direction of Jeremy Brennan (Jersey Boys).

Following its world premiere at the 2014 Perth Fringe Festival, where it won the Best Cabaret award, Matthew Mitcham’s Twists and Turns tours nationally in 2015.
