Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, or who is in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional treatment is received or the crisis resolves. The Mental Health First Aid course teaches adults (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to adults who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis. This training in mental health is a must if organisations are to create mentally healthy workplaces. Since people spend one third of their lives at work, workplace mental health is a priority that will have a positive impact on people’s lives, productivity and it is a great ROI.
You will learn the signs and symptoms of these workplace mental health problems, where and how to get help, and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective. You will take away an evidence based tool to assist adults in these crisis situations:
- work related burnout
- work related stress
- job-performance anxiety
- dealing with the impacts of bullying
- suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- panic attacks
- workplace induced trauma
- severe psychotic states
- aggressive behaviours
- severe effects from alcohol and drugs
When you complete the Mental Health First Aid course with us, you will be issued with a certificate which can be used towards your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) qualifications.
Mental Health First Aid is a 12 hour course, which is delivered as a 2 day training package. A manual is provided to each participant attending the course, along with useful mental health resources.
