Totally Plucked in Market Sunday Concert

The August Music on a Market Sunday Concert at 12:30pm on 30 August in the Uniting Church features local guitar quartet Totally Plucked. Steve Tafra, Steve Thorneycroft, Edward Ryan and Matthew Nolan come together with an eclectic program that ranges from the Baroque to the present. Music by Bach and Scarlatti, who represent two different baroque styles, is balanced by three contemporary pieces by three contemporary guitarist/composers working in different genres: Collin Tommis, Mark Cruz and Andrew York.

Steve Tafra and Steve Thorneycroft are well known for their guitar duo EphenStephen. In this concert Steve Thorneycroft will be playing an 8-string guitar made by British luthier Martin Woodhouse. Matt Nolan graduated in 2009 and has an extensive teaching studio in Armidale, while Edward Ryan is completing his BMus at UNE.

This is a great opportunity to hear some established and emerging musicians combining in a relatively rare ensemble. Admission to the concert is free, though donations are encouraged. Tea and sausages ware available at the Uniting Church before the concert.
