The Cairos

Colours Like Features, the first EP by Brisbane band The Cairos (since signing to Island Records), captures the sound of youth with all its heartbreak, vigour and curiosity intact.

The Cairos have had the foresight to pursue every golden opportunity that presented itself, sharing stages with Julian Casablancas, The Temper Trap, The Middle East, You Am I and endless other indie rock elite. They were also asked to join Powderfinger for the Queensland dates of their farewell tour. The Cairos released two EPs off their own steam, Lost at Sea and Summer Catalogue, and put Triple J’s Unearthed to good use, uploading songs between classes.

In fact, the boys were still only 18 when an A&R rep from Island caught them at Sydney’s now-defunct Hopetoun and instantly spotted the hallmarks of classic pop songwriters. The band hooked up at Albert Studios in Sydney with multi-ARIA-Award-winning producer Wayne Connolly, who has worked with acts like The Vines, Josh Pyke and Boy & Bear.
