Maiti Nepal was founded in 1993 with the aim of protecting Nepali children and women from the suffering of social injustices and threats such as trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation, domestic violence, child prostitution and child labor. The organisation is vital in rescuing victims, providing rehabilitation and fighting for justice in the legal system.

In the wake of the Disaster that struck Nepal on April 25th Maiti Nepal has reached out to 6,000 families providing much needed emergency relief aid to 30,000 people directly (press release 21/5/15). Food items, oil, salt, packs, clothing, mosquito nets, tents, tarpaulin and medicines have been distributed and rehabilitation service has been provided to children and women who are highly vulnerable to violence.

Looking ahead Maiti Nepal plans to plunge into rebuilding, distributing galvanized tin sheets in the most affected areas for temporary settlements and is committed to shelter 200 girl children severely affected by the disaster. For more information visit: ''.
