Pause Fest, Australia’s answer to SXSW, is back in February 2015 with a new program bursting with international speakers who are set to examine the intersection of creativity, technology and entrepreneurialism in today’s hyper-connected world.

Now in its fifth year, Pause Fest brings professionals together from advertising, design, animation, not-for-profit, commerce, web and post-production, as well as related business networks like incubators and start-up communities, to explore digital culture and nurture collaboration and education.

Pause Fest is set to deliver talks and presentations by internationally-leading innovators such as:

- “The Lego Movie” animation studio Animal Logic
- Buzzfeed
- This American Life
- Guardian Australia
- Clemenger BBDO
- Silicon Valley strategist Alexander Chung
- PayPal
- Eventbrite
- Deloitte Digital
- MONA, and more

What started with an idea to start Australia’s first digital festival in 2010, Pause Fest’s founder and chief organiser, George Hedon, said the festival’s increasing popularity and following was unlike anything he had ever imagined.

“This year we have more speakers, screenings, interactive installations and workshops than ever before – we’re bringing together industry leaders and creatives to show just how technology can change the planet".

“From wearable technology that makes patient monitoring in remote locations possible to live crowdsourcing to solve some of Victoria’s most pressing issues, we’re exploring the power of digital culture that has led to the literal reinvention of the light-bulb,” George said.

Running from Monday, February 9 until Sunday, February 15, some of Pause Fest’s headliners include:
- “Flow” – free audience installation at Federation Square where crowd movements are tracked to influence LED streams
- “VFX Jam” – teams enrol in a two-day competition workshop to create a visual effects piece judged by industry leaders
- “Tech_Bar” – daily catch-up location with free demonstrations, parties, workshops and more
- “Web for Good” – conference on creative superheroes that use technology for good
- “Storytelling on the Open Web” – conference lead by producers and editors behind cult-followed outlets such as This American Life, Newsmodo, Buzzfeed and more
- “The $1B B-Faculty” – conference led by eight self-made Australian entrepreneurs
- And many more

“ Pause Fest represents the first time much of this technology has ever premiered in Australia, so there’s no telling what sort of ideas will be sparked by this exciting festival,” George said.
