Re-imagining Peggy Lee is a new project by seasoned Melbourne jazz musicians Nicola Watson (vocals), Nathan Liow (piano) and Adam Spiegl (bass). Drawing on the diversity of Peggy Lee’s recorded works, from her career beginnings with Benny Goodman’s Big Band to her famed sessions for Capitol and Decca records, the project sees Watson, Liow and Spiegl cast new light on Lee’s work to re-imagine and re-invent melodies, stories and the style of jazz-pop icon Peggy Lee.

Nicola Watson’s debut album Clear is the Coast was released through Newmarket Music, to critical acclaim from music critics and fans alike. Watson’s timeless approach to lyric and melody is complimented by a unique style, with a distinct and commanding vocal ability as a singer and improviser. A 2010 finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, Watson has since toured Canada, North America and Japan. Collaborating with Nathan Liow on a new set of jazz works, Watson and Liow released their 2010 debut album entitled Here in the Corner, which received regular airplay on ABC, PBS and RRR. Watson and Liow will join with Melbourne bassist Adam Speigl at the Paris Cat to launch their new project, Reimagining Peggy Lee.
