Rise Against Announce Special Guests Clowns & Outright

They’re one of punk rock’s biggest bands and they’re headed our way this December – Chicago four-piece Rise Against return to Australia this summer, joined by very special guests Clowns and Outright. Tickets are on sale this Thursday 9 July.

Melbourne four-piece Clowns are punk hell-raisers who formed in 2010 and have been wreaking havoc on stages ever since. With two full-length albums under their belt - 2013’s I’m Not Right (the #5 album of the year, according to triple j’s Short Fast Loud) and 2015’s acclaimed Bad Blood (out now through Poison City Records) - Clowns’ ferocious energy has seen them play over 300 gigs so far.

‘Bad Blood shines a light on the best kept secret in Melbourne: amidst all the rafter-climbing, stage-diving, and nihilistic chaos, Clowns have sneakily developed into a top-shelf punk-rock band. Get infected.’ – The Music

‘You could play Bad Blood to a teenager in a Backtrack hoodie or a grizzled mosh veteran with a Black Flag tattoo and both would find something to love about it. If there’s one band seriously screaming out for overseas recognition, it’s Clowns.’ – punknews.org

Clowns’ credential showcase a wide range of influences – everything from thrash to power-pop, noise to ’77 punk – which have seen the Victorian rockers touring everywhere from South-East Asia to New Zealand, including gigs at Texas’ SXSW and China’s MIDI festival... with an upcoming date at Chicago’s Riot Fest in September.

Bodyjar invited them to perform at their recent reformation show, they showed off their all-age chops at VIC’s Leaps and Bounds Festival, and sold out shows in regional areas and major cities on their recent Running Through These Veinstour.

Clowns recently blew new fans away with a killer Like A Version set on triple j last month, performing original ‘Never Enough’ and their cracking take on the Sunnyboys’ classic ‘Alone With You’.

Also joining Rise Against and Clowns on the road is fellow Melbourne outfit Outright. In true DIY style since their formation five years ago, Outright’s unwavering, raw passion has seen the band pack out shows up and down the Aussie coastline including support slots for the likes of High Tension, Mindsnare, Propagandhi and the legendary Refused. Debut album Avalanche, featuring a title track that triple j Unearthed call ‘an absolute weapon’, covers personal-is-political topics such as gender equality, environmental destruction and other such powerful issues. Watch the album trailer here. Outright are going places – fast.

With these two supports in tow, Rise Against’s December dates are going to be truly explosive. Tickets will be snapped up fast – get in quick to catch the hottest rock tour of the summer!
