The ACT Branch of the Royal School of Church Music holds a lunchtime organ recital on the last Thursday of every month in a different Canberra church.

Our September recital will be given by Dr David Black, Assistant Organist at Wesley Uniting Church.

David Black was appointed Assistant Organist in February, 2013. Originally from Melbourne, David was an Organ Scholar at Trinity College, Melbourne University. Following his B Mus from the University of Melbourne, he gained a PhD from Harvard University with a dissertation on Mozart’s sacred music. As Senior Research Fellow and Director of Music at Homerton College, Cambridge, he founded the Charter Choir of Homerton College, which premièred a new work by Peter Maxwell Davies. His critical edition of the Mozart/Süssmayr Requiem is published by Peters Verlag.

In February, 2015, he was awarded the Associateship of the Royal College of Organists (ARCO). He is also a member of the faculty of the ANU School of Music.

Admission to our monthly lunchtime recitals is free, but a retiring collection is taken to assist the work of the RSCM and the host church.
