The Opera Foundation for young Australians (formerly Opera Foundation Australia) is pleased to announce the finalists for the 2015 Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship. The winner of this prestigious scholarship will be announced at the public recital with the six finalists on Sunday 1st November 2015 commencing at 4.00pm at the Verbrugghen Hall of Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The winner of the scholarship will receive $43,000 and will provide a talented and strongly motivated young Australian opera singer the opportunity to study with internationally acclaimed vocal, language and movement coaches in New York.

Anna Cleary, Chair of The Opera Foundation for young Australians says: ‘The Opera Foundation for young Australians is about opening doors to the world of opera for young talented Australians in the field of opera. Through the awarding of the Lady Mary Fairfax New York Scholarship we are able to provide incredible opportunities to young Australian performers. The Finals concert on 1st November is also an incredible opportunity for opera enthusiasts to enjoy quality opera from some of Australia’s finest young artists.’

The Opera Foundation for young Australians was founded in 1963 by Lady Fairfax and has been in operation for over 50 years. The Opera Foundation for young Australians provides international Awards & Scholarships to renowned opera houses & institutions in the world to young Australian artists. The Awards and Scholarships offered by The Opera Foundation for young Australians have provided the springboard for launching the successful international careers of many Australian opera singers for more than 50 years. Since 1963 the Foundation has provided over $5 million in funding and support and offered over 300 Awards and Scholarships.

The Adjudicators of the 2015 Lady Fairfax New York Scholarship are Bradley Daley, Roxane Hislop & Guy Noble. The evening will feature performances from finalists (see below) Morgan Balfour, Olivia Cranwell, Phoebe-Celeste Humphreys, Elizabeth Lewis, Tabatha McFadyen & Christopher Nazarian. Guest Artist Lorina Gore (previous winner of the National Opera Studio London Scholarship). All artists are accompanied by Sharolyn Kimmorley AM. The evening will be presented by Tobias Cole (2002 Winner of the New York Scholarship).
