The Castle (7.30pm) and Withnail and I (9.30pm)

An iconic Australian comedy and a hilarious English cult classic.

Only $12 to see one film or $20 to see both.

The Castle (1997)
Running time 84 mins
7.30pm Fri 28 August 2015

A tale of blue-collar heroes with hearts of gold, The Castle is one of Australia’s most widely quoted comedies and catapulted Darryl Kerrigan (Michael Caton) straight into the pool room of cinematic legends. The quirky Kerrigan family lives together in a makeshift home they built themselves - with great pride and a bizarre attention to detail - a few yards from the edge of a busy Airport. When a building inspector condemns the building and reveals that the government plans to use their land for an airport expansion, Darryl Kerrigan and his brood recruit hack attorney Dennis Denuto and prepare themselves for the fight of their lives.

Withnail and I (1987)
Running time 104 mins
9.30pm Fri 28 August 2015

A cult classic in the truest sense, Withnail and I is one of the most beloved and quoted films of the last few decades. Two out-of-work actors -- the anxious, luckless Marwood (Paul McGann) and his acerbic, alcoholic friend, Withnail (Richard E. Grant) -- spend their days drifting between their squalid flat, the unemployment office and the pub. When they take a holiday "by mistake" at the country house of Withnail's flamboyantly gay uncle, Monty (Richard Griffiths), they encounter the unpleasant side of the English countryside: tedium, terrifying locals and torrential rain.
