The Daniel Susnjar Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group – a seven-piece ensemble (featuring 2 horns, piano, guitar, bass, cajón and drum set) will be performing original compositions influenced by Afro-Peruvian rhythms and traditional Peruvian folk-songs. His band for this show features Australia's finest jazz and latin musicians, including Eamon Dilworth, Karl Laskowski, Steve Barry, Carlos Rios, Cameron Undy and Giorgio Rojas.

Audiences can expect a high-energy show of original music performed by some of the best musicians in the business today. “The passion, high energy and positive spirit found in Afro-Peruvian jazz is what drew me in,” he says. “It continues to heavily influence my own musical development. I’ve been interested in presenting my band in Sydney for quite some time. With the recognition afforded by the two Jazz Bell Award wins earlier this year, I felt that the time was right to present my band to a Sydney audience who are now perhaps more familiar with my work.”
Daniel’s recent album Su Su Nje, his debut, took home two Australian Jazz Bell Awards this year. The album is a document of his personal interpretation of Afro-Peruvian music combined with contemporary jazz, and acts as a tangible artefact of his five years of in-depth study in the USA from 2008-2013, where he earned his Masters and Doctoral degrees from the University of Miami Frost School of Music.

In the interim, Daniel is channeling all of his energy into his Sydney show. “Expect to hear infectious rhythms that you've never heard before, musicians passionately performing cutting edge music, and a level of excitement simply not to be missed,” he says.

Tickets are on sale now. Daniel Susnjar’s debut album Su Su Nje is available now.
