Speak up for road safety and avoid fatigue.

This year, the Queensland Government is launching a statewide road safety event – Queensland Road Safety Week – from August 17 – 21. This weeklong event is an opportunity for all Queenslanders to be directly involved in making our roads safer for everyone.

Truckies travelling on the M1 North bound are being encouraged to make the most of their fatigue break on Wednesday 19 August by taking a pit-stop at the Federal Site – 1.2 km past exit 244 on the Bruce Highway for a rest, free BBQ, and some great advice on how to better plan their trip to avoid fatigue while driving.

The Federal Truckie Toolbox Talk is just one of hundreds of local events and activities being held across the State as part of Queensland Road Safety Week (17-21 August) – a joint initiative of the Department of Transport and Main Roads and the Queensland Police Service.

‘Speaking up for road safety’ is this year’s theme, and we’re encouraging the whole community to have their say on road safety. It’s about encouraging all Queenslanders to talk about important road safety issues with one another –with their kids, their families, their friends and colleagues.
