The revered show The Man in Black is back…and it is reloaded for two special shows in Melbourne this November. The Man in Black – Reloaded features country superstar Adam Harvey and Queen of country Catherine Britt in a mesmerising show paying homage to the life and music of the legendary Johnny Cash. The original show, which featured Tex Perkins at the helm, spent 18-months on the road throughout Australia and New Zealand and won the cast and show a Helpmann Award for Best Contemporary Australian Concert. Now, reloaded, with two of the most iconic names from the Australian country scene, the show is back and promises to be an unforgettable experience for all music lovers.

The Man in Black has been receiving rave reviews since it launched onto the live music scene. Penned by Australian theatrical producer Jim McPherson – who also wrote the hit show The John Denver Story: Take Me Home Country Road – the show is two-hours of Johnny Cash’s greatest hits, interwoven with the story of his rise to stardom, fight for survival and eventual redemption. McPherson has confessed a 40-year fascination with the star and was meticulous in pulling together the iconic musicians story for the stage.

Johnny Cash shot to fame in 1954. With a string of Top 10 hits, it was the fourth single he released – I Walk The Line – that really catapulted him to a household name. Searing up to Billboard’s #1 position, it remained in the charts for an incredible 43 weeks. Throughout his career, he had a string of hits including Ring of Fire, I Got Your Stripes and Don’t Take Your Guns to Town, to name a few. He was the longest inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame (at age 48) and was also inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.

Over the two hour performance, Harvey’s full bass voice will wrap itself around the lyrics of 20 of the best known Cash songs, all of which are timeless classics, including the likes of Ring of Fire, I Walk The Line, Folsom Prison Blues, A Boy Named Sue and Jackson, along with the boom-chica-boom rhythms of his backing band, The Tennessee Three. Britt’s voice is honey to Harvey’s bass and their duet of the Grammy award-winning Jackson is an unforgettable highlight.

An angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other, The Man in Black is guaranteed to be a highlight.
