Comedian and former illegal immigrant Umit Bali makes his Perth and Fringe World debut with a show about permanent residency, criminal offences, drug use and ethnic parents in a fair and advanced Australia.

Umit came to Australia at 13 years old. Originally from Fiji, he has spent eight years as an illegal immigrant as he applied for visa after visa.

Umit’s high energy friendly stage presence belies his clever streak. He says, “I didn’t really care for education because in Fiji the teachers didn’t care for us, so comedy was like a defence. Smart people debate things but if you don’t want to debate things, you can make fun of them instead.”
With an exhilarating collection of oddball characters and anecdotes, Umit is one of Sydney’s most entertaining new comedians.

“Fast-paced life-as-an-immigrant humour.” - Gagging for it

“A fascinating tale.” –

"I saw Umit Bali and was blown away. Equal parts edgy and silly, but both hilarious. Catch him while you can still afford it." - Wil Anderson
