Two heavy hitters make their way up to Upstairs and Underground on the 2nd of October for a night of festivities.

Gypsy/Ska band Edema Ruh verse off with the Gypsy Dub Sound System, a night that is going to blow those 88’s into an intergalactic haven.

Edema Ruh have been on a bloodthirsty journey since the beginning, organising nights, and duelling with some of the best bands in the country and the world, challenging them at their style. Edema Ruh bring a huge sound to the stage with a; devouring horn section, scorching fiddle, manic rhythm section and strung out climactic vocals by front man Daniel Holmes.

They are pleased to share the stage with The Gypsy Dub Sound System; Extreme instrumentalism meets cutting edge electronic manipulation. The Gypsy Dub Sound System (GDSS) is filled with funky dubby and juicy beats featuring Trevor Brown on sax/electronic/bouzouki; Veren Grigorov on violin; and Dirk Kruithof on Guitar.

From the streets of Barcelona and Paris to warehouse parties in Sydney and Melbourne, to residencies at The Famous Spiegeltent, to headlining at festivals, such as the Sydney Festival and Woodford to the Sydney Opera House, the members of GDSS play with passion and humour, bending genres to breaking point then snapping into rip-snorting renditions of classic and surprising tunes played with virtuosic precision.GDSS has played at many festivals including, Sydney Festival, Womad (Closing Party), Corinbank Festival, Festival Of the Winds, and Aroma Coffee Festival at the Rocks, Sydney.

So don’t miss out on this one, you may of heard of another event in your friends lounge room, however, you will surly be disappointed that it isn’t Edema Ruh & The Gypsy Dub Sound System smashing it up at your friends place. Where will the drops be happening? At the Gaelic Club in Surry Hills, Surry Hills on the 2nd of October, check out pre-sales for easy ways in.
