As part of the ongoing programming of their 15 metre digital wall, Central Park have commissioned a work that celebrates the centres glass atrium, from one half of local Sydney illustrator duo, We Buy Your Kids. WBYK will be creating live animations which will then be screened on the digital wall.

WBYK’s Sonny Day, on spending time at the centre immediately thought of a diver descending elegantly through its many levels and landing, splash, in the ground floor garden bed. “The Difference between You and Me Is That I'm Not a Shark" is a live action and 2D animation imitating the style of a flipbook, following the movement of a diver as if through the eyes of the artist, with the diver going from strength to strength eventually transitioning into a shark.

Sonny will be working live in the space on April 15, 16 +17, painting and repeatedly committing the diver’s meticulous drop to paper from 12pm to 2pm. These school holidays kids are invited to witness the artist create animations in real time and to guide the direction of the diver themselves through the touch screen kiosk opposite the wall. Works will then screen daily, on the hour every hour between 9am to 9pm from April 18 to May 13.

This family friendly piece allows little and big kids to get involved and bring the flipbook animation to life.
