West Australian musical talent and Heritage College students present a Concert, WinterSong.
Come on a journey of contemplation and comedy, memories and mirth. Light, well-loved favourites ranging from Carmen to Cosette, Maria to Mozart and Gershwin Jazz.
Our artists include:
Miriam Meakin - Soprano
Miriam's principal roles with the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of WA include Rose Maybud (Ruddigore) and principal soprano in Andrew Foote's "A Little List". Most recently, Miriam performed with the Ian Charles Westrip Performing Arts Association in productions of "The Mikado" and "The Phantom of the Opera" at the Regal Theatre.
Mark Alderson - Baritone
Mark started his musical life in school choirs and productions where he developed a passion for singing. In 1994, Mark joined the West Australian Opera, and was accepted into their young artist program in 1998 and 1999. He then went on to study singing with Molly McGurk and Andrew Foote at the University of Western Australia, complete a Bachelor of Music in 1996. In 2001, Mark travelled to the United Kingdom to take part in the spring program for Opera School Wales and then continued with study in Melbourne at the Australian National Academy of Music in 2002 and 2003.
David Wickham - Piano
One of Australia's pre-eminent accompanists and a lecturer at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. David was a member of the music staff at the Australian Opera Studio from 2003 to 2006 where he was Music Director for many productions. "David Wickham led from the front with a superb display of musicianship." He is a principal coach for West Australian Opera and has broadcast several recitals for ABC Classic FM, BBC Radio 3 and UK Classic FM, as accompanist for some of Australia's renowned artists. He has been described as "one of the finest exponents of keyboard skill when dealing with orchestral transcriptions."
This is a show for all ages and will be fun and light. Tea and coffee is included in the ticket price plus there will be light, hand-made delicacies for sale during the interval and after the show.
Tickets are $30.00 adult, $15.00 child and $20 concession
