About Zarm

Perth based group Zarm creates waves as a cutting-edge live band – a group which galvanizes a bluesy roots sound into an impressive power-packed live experience, creating the raw energy, spontaneity and soulful touch for lovers of music the world over.

Performing a refreshing mix of originals, Zarm's spicy blend of reggae, soul, roots and jazz flavours combined with an energetic and uplifting stage presence has earned the talented group a loyal following in Australia and abroad. With members from the UK, Jamaica, Australia, Mauritius, and the Seychelles, Zarm is a truly multicultural celebration of music and rhythm.

The debut EP 'Elephone' features the wide variety and depth in Zarm's creative style – a rich and dynamic blend of bouncing rhythms with reggae chops, pop, blues and electro flavours. Combining groove driven rhythms with waves of dub-laced guitar lines and evocative melodies, songwriters Luke Hutcheson (vocals, guitar) and Joelle Barbé (drums, backing vocals) showcases the array of musical and cultural influences in their soulful sound. On stage, Zarm is joined by an exciting line up of musicians that performs with the impassioned and captivating energy that moves crowds wherever they play.

Zarm is currently in the studio working on the follow up to 2013's 'Elephone', which was nominated at the Musicoz Australian Independent Music Awards with Can't Get Enough placed in the Top Songs of 2013. They've performed alongside some of Australia's music greats, Icehouse, James Reyne, and Diesel, as well as supporting acclaimed international acts including Ziggy Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Mary J Blige and most recently, The Gipsy Kings for their 2015's 25th Anniversary Australia tour.
